Negroni Week 2016 Raises Nearly $400,000
Once again, bars from around the world came together to celebrate Negroni Week and raise money for meaningful causes. This year’s initiative, which took place from June 6-12, brought together 6,000 venues from 60 countries, and raised nearly $400,000 for charity. This brings the total donations to nearly $900,000 in the four years since Negroni Week launched.
The week-long charity campaign, presented by Imbibe and Campari, took place from June 6-12, 2016. Venues participated from countries as diverse as the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, Cambodia, Singapore and Argentina, with bars/restaurants donating at least $1 of every Negroni sale to the charity of their choice over the course of the week-long initiative.
For the second year in a row, this year’s top fundraiser was Grand Banks in New York City. Grand Banks donated the funds it raised to The Maritime Foundation, and as the top fundraiser, Campari is generously donating $10,000 to The Maritime Foundation, which preserves artifacts of maritime history and educates the public about maritime culture and marine ecology.
Imbibe also randomly selected one participating Negroni Week bar to receive a $1,000 donation to their chosen charity. We selected Gourdough’s in Austin, Texas, and on their behalf, we donated $1,000 to Austin Pets Alive, which helps save at-risk animals from euthanasia.
We want to extend a special thank you to everyone who came together this year to participate in Negroni Week and support charities in their local communities. The enthusiasm we’ve seen from participating bars, restaurants, retailers, bartenders and Negroni lovers speaks to the incredible generosity of the cocktail world, and we’re incredibly proud of everyone’s efforts.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for next year as Negroni Week returns June 5-11, 2017, and in the meantime, raise a Negroni to this amazing effort!
